I tried posting about this in vcu, but it seems that though they are completely content to be a dumping ground for random questions and gripes about VCU, they are not okay with posts about activism that is happening both on campus and around the country.

Regardless, today, April 18, 2007 is a Day of Silence being observed by people all over the country, including many students at VCU.

Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am participating in the Day of Silence, a national youth movement protesting the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning people and their allies. My deliberate silence echoes that silence, which is caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination. I believe that ending the silence is the first step toward fighting these injustices. Think about the voices you are not hearing today.

What are you going to do to end the silence?
